WASHINGTON, July 29 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) submitted a public comment letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) expressing strong support for the proposed registration of vadescana, a pesticide designed to control the Varroa mite in honey bee hives. Vadescana is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) insecticide, and if registered, would be the first dsRNA pesticide tool for bee hives in the United States and only the second dsRNA product for agricultural use.
