Ball State University Repatriates Objects to the Modoc Nation
WASHINGTON, July 26 (TNSFR) -- Ball State University is preparing to repatriate two sacred objects to the Modoc Nation, fulfilling its obligations under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
These cultural items described as a woven basket with a lid and another without were donated to the university by a private individual in 1989 and 1990, respectively. Records indicate the 1989 basket originated from the Northwest Coast and the 1990 basket from the Klamath River region
