WASHINGTON, May 10 -- Popp Forest Products Inc., Lake Oswego, Oregon, has requested an exemption from potential tariffs or quotas on tropical hardwood kiln sticks, arguing that the products pose no national security risk. In a letter to the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security, the company emphasized the essential role kiln sticks play in domestic lumber production.
