Northwestern University to Repatriate Human Remains to 11 Native American Tribes
WASHINGTON, March 19 (TNSFR) -- Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois has completed an inventory of human remains and determined a cultural affiliation with multiple Native American tribes, leading to their planned repatriation under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The remains, which represent at least three individuals, were found in Racine, Wisconsin, and are linked to the region's ancient effigy mound builders.

University of Idaho to Repatriate Human Remains to 7 California Tribes
WASHINGTON, March 19 (TNSFR) -- The Alfred W. Bowers Laboratory of Anthropology, University of Idaho, Moscow, has completed an inventory of human remains in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) and has determined a cultural affiliation between the remains and several California-based Indian Tribes.
The remains, which originated from sites in Contra Costa and Alameda counties, were rediscovered in 2024 during an internal review of the collection.
