Creating New Jobs: N.Y. Gov. Hochul Announces Approval of Solar Array in Niagara County
ALBANY, New York, Dec. 24 -- Gov. Kathy Hochul, D-New York, issued the following news release:
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that the New York State Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission (ORES) has issued a final siting permit for the Somerset solar array. The project, located in the Town of Somerset, Niagara County, will generate 125-megawatts of clean, renewable energy. Once operational, the facility will reduce carbon emissions by more than 177,000 tons annually

Friends of the Earth: EXIM Sends Late Christmas Gift to Exxon, Approving Guyana Gas Deal
WASHINGTON, Dec. 27 -- Friends of the Earth issued the following news release on Dec. 26, 2024:
Today the US Export-Import Bank quietly voted on and presumably awarded a $526 million loan agreement to ExxonMobil and partners for a massive gas project in Guyana. This approval occurred despite serious complaints of pollution and harms to the community raised by Guyanese activists. According to IEEFA, the project will result in a substantially overbuilt electrical system.
