Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced the promotion of Thad Fineran to the rank of brigadier general in the U.S. Army. The advancement will require him to withdraw from state service, to accept a new posting outside of Nebraska in accordance with his promotion.

LINCOLN, Nebraska, Aug. 31 -- Gov. Jim Pillen, R-Nebraska, issued the following news release:
Governor Jim Pillen joined a slate of governors, education leaders, state and federal legislators and others in a letter to Congress voicing support for the expansion of educational freedom. That letter calls for expanding options to students and parents in all 50 states, though the implementation of a tax credit scholarship program.

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 31 -- Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued the following news release:
Texas, along with a bipartisan coalition of 29 other states, has reached a settlement ending the outstanding damages phase of an unclaimed property dispute before the U.S. Supreme Court. Texas and the other states will take possession of more than $190 million in unclaimed property.
