JACKSONVILLE, Florida, Oct. 4 -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Jacksonville District issued the following news release on Oct. 3, 2023:
Jacksonville District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, awarded a $47.6 million contract Sept. 29 to The Dutra Group of San Rafael, California, to execute a Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies (FCCE) rehabilitation of the Mid and South Reach segments of the Brevard Co., Florida, federal shore protection projects.

Jacksonville Beach Nurse Pleads Guilty To Tampering With Medication
TAMPA, Florida, Oct. 3 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida issued the following news release:
Jacksonville, Florida - United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces that Katherine Jee Rankin (30, Jacksonville Beach) today pleaded guilty to tampering with a consumer product, specifically injectable hydromorphone. Rankin faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been set.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 3 -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued the following news release:
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposes listing the short-tailed snake as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The Service is also proposing a 4(d) rule to provide for the conservation of the species.
