Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency: Pilot Accounted for From World War II (McGuire, E.)
WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 -- The U.S. Department of Defense's Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency issued the following news release on Aug. 31, 2023:
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced today that U.S. Army Air Forces 1st Lt. Edward T. McGuire, 22, of Chicago, Illinois, killed during World War II was accounted for June 30, 2023.

U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa: Chicago Man Sentenced for Cocaine and Heroin Distribution
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, Sept. 1 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa issued the following news release:
A man who distributed cocaine and heroin near Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, in 2017 and 2018 was sentenced August 29, 2023, to seven years in federal prison.
Malcolm Thornton, age 33, from Chicago, Illinois, received the prison term after a January 23, 2023 guilty plea to one count of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.
