Governor Ivey Announces First Solar to Open $1.1 Billion Alabama Facility, Creating Over 700 Clean Energy Manufacturing Jobs in Lawrence County
MONTGOMERY, Alabama, Nov. 17 -- Gov. Kay Ivey, R-Alabama, issued the following news release:
Governor Kay Ivey announced on Wednesday that First Solar Inc. plans to invest $1.1 billion to establish a photovoltaic (PV) solar module manufacturing facility in Lawrence County, creating over 700 new jobs in North Alabama. The new factory is part of the company's previously announced investment in scaling its American manufacturing footprint to over 10 gigawatts (GW) by 2025.
