Rep. Burchett Introduces Legal Aid for Americans Act
WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 -- Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., has introduced the Legal Aid for Americans Act (H.R. 9242) "to amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to establish a pro bono service requirement for individuals who borrow Federal student loans for graduate legal education." The bill was introduced on Oct. 28. It was referred to the House Education and Labor Committee. Rep. Green Introduces Rural Emergency Room Access Act
WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 -- Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., has introduced the Rural Emergency Room (ER) Access Act (H.R. 9258) "to direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to revise regulations to remove the requirement under the Medicare program that an off-campus facility or organization shall be located within a 35-mile radius of a hospital or critical access hospital." The bill was introduced on Oct. 31. It was jointly referred to the House Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means committees.   more

Rep. Green Introduces Rural Health Care Access Act
WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 -- Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., has introduced the Rural Health Care Access Act (H.R. 9257) "to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to permit States to designate without any mileage limitations facilities that are located in rural areas as critical access hospitals." The bill was introduced on Oct. 31. It was referred to the House Ways and Means Committee. Rep. Maloney Introduces Safe Access to Cash Act
WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 -- Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, D-N.Y., has introduced the Safe Access to Cash Act (H.R. 9248) "to establish criminal offenses with respect to violations involving automated teller machines (ATMs)." The bill was introduced on Oct. 28 and was co-sponsored by Rep. John Rose, R-Tenn. It was referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
