Wildlife Conservation Society: New Marine Protected Area in Nicaragua - Corn Island Archipelago Declared 'Protected Marine Landscape'
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, Dec. 23 -- The Wildlife Conservation Society issued the following news release on Dec. 22, 2021:
The National Assembly of Nicaragua has recently passed legislation declaring Corn Islands a new Marine Protected Area (MPA) under the category "Seascape and Landscape Protected Area." This declaration comes as result of the work done by Nicaraguan authorities, the Municipal government of Corn Island, and the Bluefields Indian and Caribbean University (BICU) working in partnership
