WASHINGTON, June 17 -- Sen. Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., has introduced legislation (S. 2052) to "prohibit biometric surveillance by the Federal Government without explicit statutory authorization and to withhold certain Federal public safety grants from State and local governments that engage in biometric surveillance." The bill was introduced on June 15 and was co-sponsored by Sens. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Ron Wyden, D-Ore. It was referred to   more
