Grazie, Italia! Team USA Delivers Top Two Finish in Gold and Overall Medals at Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympics
CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy - The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games concluded on Sunday after 12 days of competition featuring 72 Team USA athletes (including four guides) among more than 600 athletes representing more than 50 nations. Team USA finished second overall in medal standings, earning a total of 24 medals (13 gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze)and delivering one of its strongest performances in recent history in the 50th anniversary edition of the Paralympic Winter Games.
"We are immensely proud of Team USA and all they accomplished at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games," said USOPC CEO Sarah Hirshland. "Their competitive excellence, resilience and spirit captivated fans in the United States and around the world. We are grateful to our wonderful hosts at Milano-Cortina 2026, the dedicated volunteers, the welcoming people of Italy, and everyone who supported these extraordinary athletes."
Team USA's 24-medal haul placed the U.S. second in standings in both total and gold medals - improving on the overall performance at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games. Of the top-eight countries who competed in 2022, the U.S. and Italy are the only countries to improve their overall medal count. With 13 gold medals, the team matched its haul from 2018 - its strongest gold medal showing in the last 20 years. A total of 28 athletes, as well as two guides, from the United States reached the podium, featuring six first time Paralympic medalists and six competitors who earned multiple medals during the Milano Cortina Games. Team USA took part in all five sports and captured podium finishes in four.
"Team USA showed the world its strength, passion and pride on the global stage throughout a memorable couple of weeks of competition," said Finbarr Kirwan, Team USA Chef de Mission. "Our heartfelt thanks go to our athletes, support staff, National Governing Bodies and the communities whose unwavering support fuels Team USA's success."
Eight-time Paralympian Oksana Masters is leaving Milano Cortina as Team USA's most decorated athlete with five medals, in a Games which saw many Team USA champions further cement incredible legacies. Meanwhile, new talent also took the world stage in their Paralympic debuts, highlighted by first-time Paralympian Kate Delson's gold and silver in Para snowboard. In Nordic skiing, the team had its best gold-medal showing ever with a total of 10. On the ice, the U.S. sled hockey squad furthered the program's dominance, claiming its historic fifth consecutive Paralympic title in front of a record-setting crowd of 10,795.
"It feels great to cement the legacy of this team, for the guys who came before us and built this program into what it is today," said defender Jack Wallace, who had a hat trick in the gold medal game against Canada. "The support from USA Hockey and the USOPC...it's the lifeblood of this organization and this team, so it feels amazing to cash in on all their support."
Five-time Paralympian Kendall Gretsch and three-time Paralympian Andrew Kurka were elected to lead the 2026 U.S. Paralympic Team into the Closing Ceremony as flag bearers. A dual sport athlete, Gretsch has cemented her name as one of the most decorated female winter sport athletes, adding four winter Paralympic medals to her collection at Milano Cortina 2026. She captured gold in the women's biathlon sprint pursuit sitting, silver in the 7.5km sprint sitting, and bronze in both the cross-country 10km and biathlon 12.5km sitting races. Kurka, a three-time Paralympian and three-time Paralympic medalist, captured bronze in the men's super-G sitting at the 2026 Games, adding to his collection of gold and silver from the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.
Team USA Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games Highlights:
Para Alpine Skiing
* Patrick Halgren's silver medal performance in the men's super-G standing marks Team USA's first medal in the event since 1998.
* Andrew Kurka completed his Paralympic medal set, winning bronze in the men's super-G sitting to add to his previous gold and silver medals from 2018.
* At just 16 years old and the youngest on the team, Meg Gustafson, guided by her brother, secured Team USA's best-ever finish in the Para alpine giant slalom VI with a fifth-place finish.

With eight Paralympic Games completed, Masters also joins elite company, tying Allison Jones for second in total Paralympic Games across winter and summer. Masters' four gold medals won in Italy break her own personal record for the most amount of gold medals in one Games.
* Four-time Paralympian Jake Adicoff - with guides Reid Goble and Peter Wolter - had a perfect Games, racing to four golds in as many races in Milano Cortina in the 20km free VI, 10km classic VI, 1km sprint classic VI and the mixed 4x2.5km relay. Heset the record for the most Para cross-country skiing gold medals won by a Team USA athlete at a single Paralympic Winter Games. He is now tied with sled hockey player Josh Pauls with five total golds through Winter Games, just one medal behind the U.S. leaders Brian Santos and Greg Mannino, who have six all-time gold medals.
* Kendall Gretsch became an 11-time Paralympic medalist and 9-time winter medalist after gracing the podium in four races in Italy, joining an exclusive group as she became the fourth most decorated woman winter Paralympian in U.S. history, only behind Oksana Masters, Sarah Billmeier and Sarah Will.
* Sydney Peterson won three gold and four total medals in Italy, taking her overall career Paralympic tally to seven medals. Peterson is just the 19th U.S. woman winter athlete to collect three golds in one Games.
* The U.S. repeated as Paralympic champions in the mixed 4x2.5km relay (Josh Sweeney, Masters, Peterson and Adicoff with guide Reid Goble).

* Three-time Paralympian Brenna Huckaby became the most decorated Paralympic snowboarder in history after earning the bronze medal in the women's banked slalom SB-LL2 in Cortina, joining Delson on the podium and bringing her career total to five Paralympic medals.
* In his final Paralympic Games, three-time Paralympian Mike Schultz raced to bronze in men's banked slalom SB-LL1 to collect his fourth career medal.
Sled Hockey
* The U.S. sled hockey team continued its historic run, winning its fifth consecutive Paralympic gold medal and outscoring opponents 46-6 throughout the tournament, extending one of the longest dynasties in Paralympic team sports and becoming the first Olympic or Paralympic team to win five consecutive gold medals at a winter games. In its pool play match against Italy, the team combined for 14 goals, winning by the largest margin of victory in U.S. sled hockey history. With the gold-medal performance, Team USA becomes the first country to sweep all three Olympic and Paralympic hockey tournaments at one Games.
* Declan Farmer became the all-time leading scorer in Paralympic sled hockey history at just 28 years old. His 15 goals and 26 points throughout the tournament mark the most goals and points recorded by any sled hockey player at a single Paralympic Games, and his four hat tricks in as many games further cement his legacy as he continues to set new records for the sport.
Wheelchair Curling
* In the Paralympic debut of mixed doubles wheelchair curling, Team USA's duo of Steve Emt and Laura Dwyer recorded a best-ever Paralympic finish in wheelchair curling with fourth place.

Trey Hendrickson eager 'to start something fresh' with Ravens, says he's 'in a win-now window'
Nick Shook, Around The NFL Writer
Though it operates in the same division, there's something about Trey Hendrickson's new employer that is just different.
It's why the 31-year-old edge rusher jumped at the opportunity to become a Baltimore Raven. And it's a major reason why he cannot wait to get started in his new colors of purple and black.
"If you can't get excited to play here, you have to check your pulse,"Hendrickson said during his introductory press conference Friday. "It's exciting to start something fresh. That was probably overdue for me."
Hendrickson undoubtedly needed to wash his hands of his previous situation and head for a new home. After a prolonged (some might even say agonizing) contract dispute with his former employer, the Cincinnati Bengals, Hendrickson finally agreed to a revised deal that traded long-term security for immediate compensation and a chance to head elsewhere after the 2025 season.
He capitalized on the opportunity, patiently feeling out the market -- and watching Baltimore renege on its agreement to trade for another star edge rusher in Maxx Crosby -- before committing to staying in the AFC North via a four-year, $112 million deal with the Ravens.
"When you're talking about the AFC North, there's history," Hendrickson said. "It's a nasty brand of football. It's punch you in the mouth. To be on the other side of the ball and experience that, I'm so excited to be in the (Ravens') building and experiencing it now.
"It's a phenomenal opportunity for me, phenomenal opportunity for my family. There's nothing but class here. State-of-the-art facilities. Great, talented players and an awesome coaching staff that's like-minded in winning and being a brand of football that we all, as a nucleus, will build, (with) this being Day One."
Although Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta explained earlier this week that Baltimore's initial plan was to add both Crosby and Hendrickson, many saw the latter addition as an audible -- even a fallback move -- after the Crosby deal fell apart. By the time Friday arrived, the point was moot, at least as it concerned Hendrickson.
"I'm in a win-now window," Hendrickson said. "This opportunity to hoist the Lombardi Trophy, get into the win column and build something from the ground up is an amazing opportunity. A lot of things transpired; I've always been a 'control what you can control' type of guy and this is a great fit for me. I'm excited for this season."
New coach Jesse Minter acknowledged the chaotic nature of the week while expressing trust and belief in DeCosta. Ultimately, he's ecstatic to have Hendrickson on his team.
"He's certainly a weapon," Minter said on Friday with a smile peeking through as he spoke. "He's proven that; the sack numbers speak for themselves. There's a lot of different things he can do for the defense. He's gonna draw attention ... and then other guys have the opportunity to make plays. ... You want to get to the point where you can create as many one-on-one matchups for people as possible. ... We'll try to do as many things as possible to try to create opportunities for Trey to wreck the game."
Baltimore acted uncharacteristically throughout the first week of free agency, reacting to a larger-than-usual exodus of players by first pulling out of the Crosby deal before throwing significant money at Hendrickson, another player who, like Crosby, is coming off a season-ending injury. Unlike Crosby, however, Hendrickson is further along his timeline toward returning to the field.
In fact, he said Friday he's been cleared for football activities since January. That revelation, plus Hendrickson's history of production -- including two straight seasons of 17.5 sacks in 2023 and 2024 -- sold DeCosta on the big-ticket addition.
"I think there's a lot of factors that go into it," DeCosta explained when asked why now was the time to hand out a big contract to a veteran like Hendrickson. "This year, we actually had a bit of a nest egg.
"Just looking at it, we felt like the guys that we would probably covet the most in the draft would be gone, maybe, before (No.) 14. It's typically what happens. We felt like this was the year to take a big swing. We saw some players that we thought could impact us, Trey being one of the main guys. I love when you have a familiarity with a player that you played against. That really resonates with me. ... Trey's always been somebody that's really impressed me in that regard."
DeCosta noted he didn't find satisfaction in plucking Hendrickson from Cincinnati, but was instead excited to add "a hell of a player" and a "force multiplier" in Hendrickson to Baltimore's roster. He also admitted he was both disappointed and proud of the players who left Charm City for new opportunities elsewhere.
Those losses are officially in the past. Although the work is far from finished, Hendrickson's arrival signals DeCosta's intent to position the Ravens as best as possible to chase a Lombardi Trophy.
Hendrickson can't wait to get started in the same division he's known since 2021.
"It's gritty football and that's the kind of football I like," he said.

Ravens' Eric DeCosta on replacing Tyler Linderbaum: 'We have a pretty good history of drafting centers'
Kevin Patra, Senior News Writer
The focus on the collapsed Maxx Crosby trade muddied the waters in Baltimore, shifting most of the attention from the fact that general manager Eric DeCosta still has plenty of other business to attend to in free agency.
The most glaring need is now at center, where the Ravens lost center Tyler Linderbaum to the Raiders. On Wednesday, DeCosta preached patience, confidencein offensive line coach/run game coordinator Dwayne Ledford, and cited his history of plucking talent in the draft.
"I have a lot of confidence in coach Ledford and our offensive staff to develop guys," DeCosta said, via the team's official website. "We've done it before. We have a pretty good history of drafting centers."
Per NFL Research, since DeCosta became the GM in 2019, the Ravens have drafted two players who have started at least one game at center: Linderbaum (25th in 2022) and Nick Samac (seventh round in 2024; cut in 2025).
If we stretch the timeline to include DeCosta's time as assistant GM under Ozzie Newsome, the pool gets somewhat deeper. From 2012 to 2018, the Ravens drafted four players who started at least one game at center: Gino Gradkowski (fourth round in 2012); Ryan Jensen (sixth round in 2013); John Urschel (fifth round in 2014); Bradley Bozeman (sixth round in 2018).
Of the group, only two have ever made a Pro Bowl: Linderbaum (3) and Jensen (1; 2021 with Tampa Bay).
The market for centers is thin, and there are questions about the starting-caliber depth in the draft. DeCosta noted he's likely to sign a free agent in the coming days and weeks to fill the hole at least until the draft. Regardless of who he signs, it will be a need come April. Teams drafting for need have a much lower hit rate than those taking the best player, especially in the early rounds.
The last time Baltimore lost its starting center (Bozeman in 2022), it used a first-round pick on Linderbaum.
The Ravens attempted to retain Linderbaum, but after viewing the fifth-year option and franchise tag too out of line with the top of the market, Baltimore watched the cap-flush Raiders blow the market away, inking the center to a $27 million per year deal (next highest is Creed Humphrey at $18 million).
DeCosta likened the quest to sign Linderbaum to the time he was trying to buy a house in Baltimore early in his scouting days. After he increased his initial offer, the seller came back and asked for his "best offer." DeCosta had already put that on the table.
"I was never going to get that house because the other people had more money to spend," DeCosta said. "That's kind of how I felt."
In this metaphor, DeCosta is now nearly homeless.
Currently, 2024 undrafted free agent Corey Bullock is penciled into the starting role. He appeared in 16 games in 2025, with zero starts, and played just 13 total snaps on offense (55 on special teams).

With 2025 No. 1 overall pick and face of the franchise Cam Ward emerging from a shadowy locker room and onto a spotlighted field, the new-look Tennessee Titans were unveiled Thursday night.
And with that, the new-age Titans were born, featuring a fresh logo, uniform and helmet that mark the beginning of the franchise's next chapter while heavily paying homage to the past, in particular to the look memorably donnedby the "Luv Ya Blue" Houston Oilers of the late 1970s.
"We wanted to come up with something that took the best parts of all of that and bring it together in a way that makes sense," Titans president and chief executive officer Burke Nihill said, via the team website. "I feel like we're building on the legacy of what got us here, and we're doing it in a way that is going to set the course of this organization for decades to come in a pretty special way."
There are no shortages to the makeover.
The primary home uniform will now feature blue jerseys and white pants, while the customary road unis will feature white tops and white or light blue pants.
"TITANS" is scrolled atop the numbers of the home chest plate, replaced by "TENNESSEE" on the away jerseys.
A patriotic blend of red, white and blue is apparent throughout, with the light blue tops featuring white numbers outlined in red, while the white jerseys feature light blue numbers with the same red outline.
Titans (light) blue is synonymous with the days of Oilers past.
As for the new logo, gone are the flames. The emblem is now a "T" surrounded by a galaxy of three stars atop a blue backdrop within white and red circles.
"I don't think it's a departure from anything," Nihill said. "It's more of an evolution of the best of who we've always been and who we want to be going forward. We wanted the uniform, and brand of the Tennessee Titans, to be the best of who we've always been. And the logo that we've worn on the side of the helmet for the past 25-plus years is part of the best of who've always been. There's a clear familiarity, and we wanted that."
The changes are abundant and there are some hidden gems, as well, such as the word "WE" inside the jersey representative of a "We Over Me" mantra.
It's plenty of pomp and circumstance on a March night in Nashville, but it's also a milestone marker for the Titans.
"The redesign coincides with changing times in the organization, from a new coaching staff, a reshaped roster, and soon, a new stadium," longtime team website writer Jim Wyatt wrote.
Led by head coach Robert Saleh, Ward, Jeffery Simmons and Pro Bowl rookie Chimere Dike, these are new-look and new-age Titans.

Mike Tomlin breaks silence after Steelers departure: 'We were here for a long and really good time'
Nick Shook, Around The NFL Writer
Mike Tomlin has broken his silence -- and filled the air with nothing but gratitude.
Tomlin spoke publicly on Thursday for the first time since stepping down from his post as head coach of the Steelers in January. His message was simple: To quote Fall Out Boy, "thanks for the memories."
"It's often said we're not here for a long time, we're here for a goodtime, like you have to choose," Tomlin said during his award acceptance speech at The Ireland Funds Pittsburgh Gala, via an Instagram post from @steelersireland. "And I think our experience here in Pittsburgh and with the great Steelers organization exemplifies that -- we were here for a long and really good time."
After 19 seasons of perennial success in Pittsburgh, Tomlin chose to exit on his own terms, stunning the football world by leaving the Steelers voluntarily and ending a run of nearly two decades of nothing but .500 or better football in the Steel City. His departure was a surprise but not entirely unexpected, given Pittsburgh's inability to advance beyond Wild Card Weekend over the last decade, but he never said a proper public goodbye before departing.
That changed Thursday. But first, in properly chivalrous fashion, his wife, Kiya, delivered a message of appreciation.
"We never did it for the recognition, but I just want to thank you," she said. "More importantly, I want to thank all the many communities in Pittsburgh that really welcomed us with open arms. It has truly been an honor to serve Pittsburgh for 19 years. Thank you."
Tomlin wasn't done, of course. The master of idioms and motivational phrases (plus a true king of the Tuesday morning filibuster), Tomlin ensured he'd make his message clear.
"It's been an honor to serve the greatest organization in sports," he said. "It's been an honor to be a part of this great community, to call it home, for our kids to call it home. We're in somewhat of a nomadic business, and so we don't take that for granted, that our kids get an opportunity to call Pittsburgh home.
"It's been an honor to serve the community in which we live, its values that we hold, and it will continue. We appreciate the recognition, but as my wife said, we certainly don't do it for that. We've been extremely blessed, man, and we'd just like to share those blessings. We thank you."
Pittsburgh has moved forward with a native son in Mike McCarthy as Tomlin's replacement. Judging by his retreat into relative anonymity following his departure from the Steelers, Tomlin is enjoying his time away from coaching. But he'll never forget the memories he made in Pittsburgh -- and neither will Steelers fans near and far.

Atlanta Falcons defensive end James Pearce Jr. was charged Thursday with three felonies and one misdemeanor by the Miami-Dade (Florida) State Attorney for an incident on Feb. 7 involving WNBA player Rikea Jackson, according to circuit court documents.
Pearce, 22, is charged with felony counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, fleeing and eluding the police and resisting an officer withviolence, as well as a misdemeanor count of stalking.
He was originally faced with a second count of aggravated battery and a charge of aggravated stalking, which were dropped.
Jackson, Pearce's ex-girlfriend, told police she attempted to drive away from Pearce and was driving to the Doral police station when Pearce "intentionally" crashed into her vehicle.
Pearce is alleged to have refused an initial order from police to "get on the floor" after officers responded to a domestic dispute call. Pearce then drove away, hitting an officer's leg intentionally to avoid arrest, according to police.
Pearce, per the police, then crashed his vehicle and attempted to elude police on foot before he was apprehended.
Pearce was released from custody Feb. 8 on a $20,500 bond.
Following Pearce's arrest, the Falcons released a statement that read: "We are in the process of gathering more information and will not have any further comment on an open legal matter at this time."
Pearce was selected with the 26th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Tennessee. He was an AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year finalist after recording 26 tackles and 10.5 sacks.

Chargers add ex-Ravens speedster Keaton Mitchell to Mike McDaniel's offense on two-year deal

The Los Angeles Chargers have added a rushing weapon for new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
Former Baltimore Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell is signing with the Chargers on a two-year, $9.25 million deal that includes $5 million fully guaranteed, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Thursday, per a source. The team has since announced the news.
Baltimore elected notto tender Mitchell as a restricted free agent. The Chargers pounced on a speed back with enticing upside.
An undrafted free agent in 2023, Mitchell burst onto the scene midway through his rookie campaign, blasting off for big plays and adding an explosive element to the Baltimore offense. However, a brutal knee injury wiped away the hype and also sapped much of the 2024 season. Last year, he looked closer to his rookie self, earning 341 yards and a touchdown on 59 totes, with a long run of 55 yards. Buried behind Derrick Henry, there simply weren't many opportunities for Mitchell.
A year further removed from the injury should hopefully open more chances for Mitchell to show off that speed.
Giving McDaniel a player with Mitchell's speed is intriguing for the Chargers, who have first-round back Omarion Hampton and Kimani Vidal atop the depth chart. We saw what McDaniel did with third-rounder De'Von Achane in Miami. While Mitchell doesn't possess that type of explosiveness (who does?), his speed can be extremely useful for the new L.A. OC. The element Mitchell provides should help open up the new offense, particularly on wide runs -- if they can get proper blocking.
