NASS - N.W. Regional Field Office: Hay Stocks in the Northwest Region Up 22 Percent From 2019
OLYMPIA, Washington, May 13 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service - Northwest Regional Field Office issued the following news release: Hay stocks on farms on May 1, 2020 totaled 490,000 tons in Idaho, up 23 percent from a year ago. May 1 stocks represent 10 percent of 2019 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2019 was down 1.9 million tons. On-farm hay stocks in Oregon totaled 400,000 tons, up 135 percent from 2019. NASS - N.W. Regional Field Office: Winter Wheat Production in the Northwest Region Down 3 Percent From 2019
OLYMPIA, Washington, May 13 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service - Northwest Regional Field Office issued the following news release: Based on May 1, 2020 conditions, production of winter wheat in Idaho was forecast at 58.7 million bushels, down 1 percent from 2019. Yield was expected to average 85.0 bushels per acre, down 2.0 bushels from last year. Growers planted an estimated 730,000 acres in the fall of 2019, unchanged from the previous year. Harv  more

Natural Resources Conservation Service: USDA Announces $5 Million in Wetland Mitigation Banking Program Funds
PORTLAND, Oregon, May 12 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service Oregon office issued the following news release: The USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced the availability of up to $5 million for wetland mitigation banks. This funding through the Wetland Mitigation Banking Program is available to help conservation partners develop or establish mitigation banks to help agricultural producers maintain eligibility for USDA programs.   more
