S.C. U.S. Attorney: Columbia Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Assaulting Deputy U.S. Marshal
COLUMBIA, South Carolina, Sept. 25 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina issued the following news release:
Johnny Mercer Vanover, 49, of Columbia was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to assault on a federal employee.
Evidence presented to the court showed that on June 29, 2023, officers with the South Carolina Department of Corrections transported Vanover to federal court in Columbia to be arraigned on federal charges. When Vanover

AIKEN, South Carolina, Sept. 25 -- The U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site issued the following news release:
Over 4,700 attendees filled the Augusta Convention Center in search of higher education and career opportunities during the Savannah River Site (SRS) CSRA (Central Savannah River Area) College Night on Sept. 12. Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) awarded scholarships to 15 local high school seniors totaling $15,000.
