BATON ROUGE, Louisiana, July 3 -- The Louisiana Democratic Party issued the following statement by Executive Director Stephen Handwerk:
Thursday, a report showed that Sen. Bill Cassidy used thousands of dollars in campaign funds for membership dues to social clubs in New York City and Morgan City. Under Federal Election Commission law, this is considered an illegal use of campaign funds.
Since 2014, Cassidy used $5,500 of campaign funds for membership dues to a New York . . .
