AMA Issues Statement on Proposal to Increase Transparency in Drug Ads

CHICAGO, Illinois, Oct. 15 -- The American Medical Association issued the following statement by President Barbara L. McAneny on a proposal to increase transparency in drug ads:
"Although the American Medical Association is opposed to direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs, as long as the practice is allowed, the ads should come with at least a small dose of transparency.
