WASHINGTON, Dec. 14 -- Sen. Gary Peters, D-Michigan, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, released the following opening statement at a Nov. 11, 2024, confirmation hearing for Val Butler Demings, William Zollars and Gordon Hartogensis to be governors of the U.S. Postal Service, and James Lake and Nicholas Miranda to be associate judges of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia:
