CHICAGO, Illinois, Oct. 10 -- Chicago Teachers Union issued the following news release:
The people of Chicago elected Mayor Brandon Johnson to reverse generations of disinvestment and correct the 40-year-old financial crisis in our schools caused by his predecessors' reckless financial deals, skipping of pension payment obligations, and efforts to balance budgets on the backs of Black and brown children.
Chicago has an obligation to fully fund and staff its public schoo . . .
