PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island, Oct. 9 -- The American Mathematical Society issued the following news release on Oct. 8, 2024:
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics to John J. Hopfield, Princeton University, and Geoffrey E. Hinton, University of Toronto, "for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks."
