ABINGDON, Virginia, Sept. 25 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia issued the following news release on Sept. 24, 2024:
An Appalachia, Virginia man, who participated in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine tied to the murder of Big Stone Gap, Virginia Police Officer Michael Chandler, was sentenced today in federal court in the Western District of Virginia.
Christopher Bates, 31, was sentenced today to 78 months in federal prison. . . .
