HOOVER, Alabama, June 14 -- The National Association of School Resource Officers issued the following school resource officer success story:
Alabama school Resource Officer Sonya Massey was shocked. The Madison County Sheriff's Office deputy was familiar with the 16-year-old-boy who was sitting in her office on an August day in 2023. The SRO and the boy had talked almost every day. Now, Massey was looking at a brand new, .40-caliber, Glock 23 handgun in the boy's book bag.
