INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, April 20 -- The Indiana House Democrats issued the following news release on April 19, 2024:

Last night (April 18), La Keisha Jackson of Indianapolis was selected by precinct chairs as the Indiana State Senator for Senate District 34. Jackson will succeed State Sen. Jean Breaux (D-Indianapolis), who passed away following a hard-fought health battle this March.
