On April 5, 2024, Capt. Franca Jones, Commander, Naval Medical Research Command relieved Capt. Abigail Yablonsky Marter, Commanding Officer of Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) SOUTH, due to a loss of confidence in her ability to command.
