WASHINGTON, March 22 -- Rep. Jason Smith, R-Missouri, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, issued the following news release:
A California inmate reportedly defrauded U.S. taxpayers out of over $550 million by falsely claiming COVID-era Employee Retention Tax Credits (ERTC), according to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
