Texas U.S. Attorney: Romance Scammer Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison, Ordered to Pay $2.2M in Restitution

DALLAS, Texas, March 20 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas issued the following news release on March 19, 2024:

An Aubrey woman was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay more than $2.2 million in restitution for defrauding elderly victims in romance schemes, announced U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton.

Ijeoma Okoro, 33, was indicted in September 2021 and proceeded to trial in December . . .
