HONOLULU, Hawaii, March 12 -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued the following news release:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is designating critical habitat for 12 species, all found only on Hawai'i island. All 12 species are listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act.
