HARTFORD, Connecticut, Feb. 9 -- The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network issued the following statement on Feb. 8, 2024:

This year, in Connecticut, 23,550 people will hear the words, "You have cancer," and 6,440 will lose their lives to cancer. Yesterday, Gov. Ned Lamont gave his annual state budget address, proposing slashing funding to life-saving cancer prevention and control programs, including suspension of tobacco control program funding . . .
