ALBANY, New York, Jan. 25 -- New York Civil Liberties Union issued the following statement on Jan. 24, 2024:

Today, the state legislature passed the Hospital Transparency Act (S.1003A-Hinchey / A.733A-Rozic) which would give patients the ability to find out whether the hospital in their area provides the care they need before they are admitted. The legislation also helps the state identify care deserts where particular types of health care are unavailable.
