NEW YORK, Dec. 29 -- The American Musicological Society issued the following news:
The Humboldt Research Award (Humboldt-Forschungspreis), given by the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in research and teaching, was awarded to Alejandro L. Madrid (Harvard University).
This is only the sixth time this award has been given to a musicologist.
Previous honorees in the field include Christoph Wolff, Reinhold Brinckmann . . .
