On August 28, 2023, award-winning lawyer Claudia Gonzalez[1] was arrested and charged with "abuse of power" related to a case she litigated while an attorney at the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala ("CICIG"). In her capacity at CICIG, Ms. Gonzalez sued a Supreme Court magistrate accused of pressuring a fellow judge overseeing a corruption case . . .
