ITHACA, New York, Nov. 1 -- Cornell University issued the following news:
Francis "Frank" J. DiSalvo, a chemist-physicist who inspired hundreds of Cornellians from different disciplines to collaborate on environmental problems, died on Oct. 27 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was 79.
An accomplished scientist whose work ranged across chemistry, physics, materials science and energy, DiSalvo studied the synthesis of solid-state materials and the physicochemical phenomen . . .
