WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 -- Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Oregon, issued the following news release on Sept. 26, 2023:
Today, Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) introduced the AFFIRM Act to cap, clarify and better target federal crop insurance subsidies to small and mid-sized farmers. The legislation would limit crop insurance subsides to $125,000 per year per recipient, eliminate subsidies for farmers earning more than $250,000, and ensure subsidy recipients are actively working on a farm. . . .
