PORTLAND, Oregon, July 7 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon issued the following news release on July 5, 2023:

A local man is facing federal charges today after he assaulted and injured a court security officer at Pioneer Federal Courthouse in downtown Portland.

Jett Avery Thomas, 39, a Portland resident, has been charged by criminal complaint with assaulting an employee of the United States with a dangerous weapon and causing bodily injury.
