The Alabama Senate passed HB479, a bill that would define "food" for the purposes of sales and use taxes and begin reducing state sales and use taxes on food on September 1, 2023. Senator Andrew Jones (R-Centre) carried the bill in the Alabama Senate and sponsored by Representative Danny Garrett (R-Trussville) in the House of Representatives.
