WASHINGTON, May 28 -- Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Texas, issued the following news release:

Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) and eight of his colleagues in the Texas Congressional Delegation sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland urging him to safeguard the right to vote as the Texas State Legislature moves closer to passing restrictive voter suppression laws that will make it harder to vote for all Texans across the state, especially communities of color.
