WASHINGTON, May 14 -- Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, issued the following news release on May 13, 2021:
An amendment prohibiting the collection of 'zombie debt' passed the House, as part of H.R. 2547, the Comprehensive Debt Collection Improvement Act. The amendment was offered by Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Steve Cohen and Suzanne Bonamici.
Most debts have a statute of limitations, but some predatory lenders still seek payment on these time-bar . . .
