AUSTIN, Texas, March 24 -- The Texas Psychological Association issued the following statement on March 23, 2021:

"We are shocked at the recent violent events against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Last week's racially motivated targeting of AAPI businesses in Atlanta is appalling. Xenophobia has long existed before the COVID-19 pandemic, but inflammatory rhetoric of "Chinese virus" has led to an increase in anti-AAPI hate . . .
