WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 -- Sen. Gary C. Peters, D-Michigan, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, issued the following opening statement as part of a hybrid hearing entitled "Examining the January 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol" on Feb. 23, 2021:
