LATHAM, New York, Dec. 24 -- The New York State School Boards Association issued the following statement by Executive Director Robert Schneider:

It is essential that the $900 billion stimulus plan negotiated and passed in an overwhelmingly bipartisan manner by the Senate and the House of Representatives be signed by the president and implemented immediately.
To be sure, this package is not all we had hoped for, and it is not the last federal assistan . . .
