WASHINGTON, Dec. 4 -- The Human Rights Campaign issued the following news release on Dec. 3:
Today, House Democrats elected Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney as the next Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).
Congressman Maloney, who will now become the first openly LGBTQ person to chair the DCCC, was the first openly LGBTQ Member of Congress elected from New York. He currently serves as a co-chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus.
