WASHINGTON, Oct. 30 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection issued the following news release on Oct. 29:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced today the implementation of biometric facial comparison technology at the pedestrian border crossings in Detroit, Michigan and Champlain, New York. The technology will enhance the identity verification process for lawful entry into the United States.
