WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 -- The Smithsonian Institution issued the following news release:
Kevin Young, director of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York City, will become the new director of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture, effective Jan. 11, 2021. He succeeds the founding director, Lonnie G. Bunch III, who is now the Secretary of the Smithsonian.
