NEW YORK, Aug. 20 -- The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund issued the following news release on Aug. 19:

A federal appeals court hearing in a case that may enable hundreds of thousands of Floridians to register to vote in time for the November election concluded today after two hours of oral argument.
