WASHINGTON, Aug. 7 -- Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, issued the following news release on Aug. 6:
After U.S. Senator Cornyn (R-TX) called on the Senate not to adjourn for its scheduled August state work period, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) today announced the Senate will stay in session next week to continue negotiations on the next coronavirus relief bill. Earlier this week Sen. Cornyn was the first member to call on the Senate to stay in session.
