WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 -- Rep. Eliot L. Engel, D-New York, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following joint statement on July 31 with Sen. Bob Menendez, ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations, on Beijing's crackdowns under the Hong Kong national security law:
"We are deeply concerned by today's announcement that China has issued arrest warrants under Hong Kong's new national security law for several noted democracy activists, including an extrater . . .
