Environment America: New House Bill Sets Historic 10-Year Deadline to Replace All Lead Pipes

WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 -- Environment America Research and Policy Center issued the following joint statement by Clean Water Program Director John Rumpler with Danielle Melgar, U.S. PIRG's Make It toxic-Free campaign advocate:

U.S. Reps. Chris Smith of New Jersey and Henry Cuellar of Texas introduced the Get the Lead Out Act, which sets a 10-year deadline to replace lead service lines. These lines are the single worst source of lead contamination in drinking water.
