WASHINGTON, July 30 -- Rep. Phil Roe, R-Tennessee, issued the following statement after voting against the Child Care Is Essential Act (H.R. 7027):
"Today's bills, like so many of House Democrats' efforts to respond to the COVID-19 crisis, are overly broad and reflect absolutely no attempt to find consensus. Today's legislation appropriates $50 billion - more than the entire annual revenue of the childcare industry - and places costly and time-consuming federal mandates on chil . . .
