Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, ranking Democratic member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, issued the following statement after the passage of a bill he introduced with Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, and Sen. Tim Scott, R-South Carolina, to protect CARES Act recovery payments provided from garnishment by private debt collectors:
