WASHINGTON, July 22 -- Rep. Kurt Schrader, D-Oregon, issued the following statement:
"I am deeply concerned about the actions of federal law enforcement officers from the US Marshals Service and the Department of Homeland Security in Portland.
"The presence of federal law enforcement officers has only served to escalate tensions in the city.
"It should be up to elected city officials to request federal help with local law enforcement matters. . . .
